Areas are the top-level physical spaces in your inventory — rooms, buildings, or storage units.

What Is an Area?

An Area is the highest level of your inventory hierarchy. Think of it as a physical space you want to track — a room in your home, a storage unit, a warehouse zone, or a building.

Examples: "Garage", "Attic", "Basement", "Storage Unit #3", "Office".

Creating an Area

Click + Add on the Areas list page. Fill in:

  • Name — required. A clear, short name for the space.
  • Description — optional notes about this area.
  • Tags — assign any tags for filtering and reporting. You can create new tags on the fly.
  • Photos / Videos — attach reference photos. On mobile, you can take a photo directly with your camera.

Viewing and Navigating

Click any Area name in the list to open its detail page. From there you can see all Locations, Boxes, and Items nested inside it, and navigate down through the hierarchy.

Tags and Filtering

Tags let you group and filter Areas across the app. You can assign a tag to multiple Areas at once by selecting them in the list and clicking Bulk Tag.

QR Codes

Every Area gets a unique QR code. Click the QR icon in the list row or the "Print QR" button on the detail page to print a label. Scan it with your phone to jump straight to that Area.

History

Click the History button on any Area's detail or edit page to see a full audit trail — who created it, when it was edited, and what changed.
